witnessing at work ..... how ?

If you have read all my posts, I talk about how wonderful you are in I, me, myself….. well, continue to read with “YOUR FLAVOR” in mind.
Taken from my favourite Book of all time, whichever season I am in. I guess I am on a roll here regarding blocks of passages from this Book.

9But you are a chosen race, a royal priesthood, a dedicated nation, [God's] own [d]purchased, special people, that you may set forth the wonderful deeds and display the virtues and perfections of Him Who called you out of darkness into His marvelous light.(E)

10Once you were not a people [at all], but now you are God’s people; once you were unpitied, but now you are pitied and have received mercy.(
F)

11Beloved, I implore you as aliens and strangers and exiles [in this world] to abstain from the sensual urges (the evil desires, the passions of the flesh, your lower nature) that wage war against the soul.

12Conduct yourselves properly (honorably, righteously) among the Gentiles, so that, although they may slander you as evildoers, [yet] they may by witnessing your good deeds [come to] glorify God in the day of inspection [[
e]when God shall look upon you wanderers as a pastor or shepherd looks over his flock].

13Be submissive to every human institution and authority for the sake of the Lord, whether it be to the emperor as supreme,

14Or to governors as sent by him to bring vengeance (punishment, justice) to those who do wrong and to encourage those who do good service.

15For it is God’s will and intention that by doing right [your good and honest lives] should silence (muzzle, gag) the ignorant charges and ill-informed criticisms of foolish persons.

16[Live] as free people, [yet] without employing your freedom as a pretext for wickedness; but [live at all times] as servants of God.

17Show respect for all men [treat them honorably]. Love the brotherhood (the Christian fraternity of which Christ is the Head). Reverence God. Honor the emperor.

18[You who are] household servants, be submissive to your masters with all [proper] respect, not only to those who are kind and considerate and reasonable, but also to those who are surly (overbearing, unjust, and crooked).

Hmmm….there is a lot of job-sense here!
See how it says that we are “chosen”, “special” and “ROYAL” ??

Royalty immediately conjures up sophistication, elegance and a stark and keen intelligence ( ?!) in my mind. True majesty even without all the adornment….they say you could recognize a king or princess anywhere.

You are royalty. You may be cleaning equipment in an old office no-where…just to make a few much-needed extra bucks and you come across this on your colleague’s computer screen. It’s true my friend. You are royal.

It’s in you. The way you think. The way you hold yourself up in times of trouble. The way you look to the King of Kings and trust Him whole-heartedly. the way you honestly obey Him. the way you search for the truth.

But why are we royal, chosen and “dedicated” ? …..so that we may set forth the wonderful deeds and display the virtues and perfections of HIM who has CALLED YOU out.

Which brings me to an important point regarding our sincerity at work in this post-modern era.
We have been given a commission to “Go out into the world and preach the Gospel.” We have a sincere desire to share with people and colleagues about the love of Jesus and how free we are in HIM…

In all sincerity we talk with people at work and witness to them about how wonderful God is and how he has rescued me time and time again even at work when I had done a sloppy job, or had made a mess … in fact, we end up “SAYING ” too much instead of actually “ LIVING” out the virtues and perfections of our KING. We try many a time to witness through our talking, and end up nullifying it through our living.

We tell people they need to be true to their work , but we end up going late or not completing a project.

Or even better, we pray during our work hours, instead of working…. and then end up talking ill about our boss, because ( we claim) he doesn’t allow us to talk to God. During work that he has asked you to complete…? At work, we need to work. TO the best of our ability.

We are to CONDUCT ourselves properly so that others may WITNESS our good deeds and come to glorify God. That is witnessing at work.

Do I keep my word ? Do I honestly affirm someone who does?
To be submissive to all our authorities….. phew….so that by doing right we [our good and honest lives] silence (muzzle, gag) the ignorant charges and ill-informed criticisms of foolish persons.

POWERFUL. ROYALTY.

We are to be submissive to our leaders even if they are unjust!!! That is a hard pill to swallow during this time of increased self-respect-edness.

By doing this we silence ( GAG — I like that) the ignorant charges….

Do the right thing. Others at work will respect you and treat you like Royalty. Because you are.

Don’t step down from your “chosen ” position. Pray at home. Work while you work. Do your best…as unto the King of Kings.

So, how do we witness? …by LIVING the LIFE the way our King Jesus wants us to more than by just TALKING.

And enjoy every bit of your life, your work and your style.

No one else has what you have.
