The Shepherds obeyed...

I'm sorry to all our dear readers, that we were missing in action for a while. I LOVE this month of December, and I know many of us have begun decorating our homes and are enrolled into loads of programs...to celebrate Christmas. The birth of Jesus. Let's look at the Shepherds and how while they were at work, something exciting happened and they ACTED on what they heard.

Luke 2:8 And in that vicinity there were shepherds living [out under the open sky] in the field, watching [in shifts] over their flock by night.

Simple men, working as usual, doing their regular routine work watching, in shifts, over their flock.

We find ourselves doing routine and regular work these days. Busyness has become the norm. No time for the holidays. Or regular holidaying that has also become something "regular". It's for the kids...it's because "I" need a break. But the break has become pretty regular. And we plan ahead and we KNOW what we are going to do.

"But the angel said to them, Do not be afraid; for behold, I bring you good news of a great joy which will come to all the people.
For to you is born this day in the town of David a Savior, Who is Christ (the Messiah) the Lord!
And this will be a sign for you [by which you will recognize Him]: you will find [after searching] a Baby wrapped in swaddling clothes and lying in a manger."

Maybe God has spoken to you about some needed change or something as simple as just to hear from Him. Maybe it is something that YOU NEED TO DO AT WORK. You know that you heard from God and you feel you need to do it. For example, stop gossiping ...or invite them home for Christmas...or do something that looks foolish to your colleagues....you know you need to do it.

"So they went with haste and [by searching] found Mary and Joseph, and the Baby lying in a manger.
And when they saw it, they made known what had been told them concerning this Child,
And all who heard it were astounded {and} marveled at what the shepherds told them."

The Shepherds didn't hear from the Angel and keep it to themselves. They went with haste and searched. They saw and made known what they had heard. What you know you need to do and heard from God , you simply have to obey. Sometimes , like the Shepherds, you might need to search for it, or make an effort not to conform to habits of your friends, or stay late at work just to help someone, or just simply go early to work and pray over each colleague while you sit in your office.

Just do it....is a good caption by Nike. Whatever God says to you, just do it. It may be while you are doing something routine.
