Make money..........out of something.....today we want to make money out of everything! That's the part that irks.

Everything hinges on ...." who's paying?" or " how much?" or "what do I get?" ....and we have become soooo used to it that it seems normal that the other person is always looking out for himself......in short....to get what he wants. So, today, we have this veil across our faces that says .... each one for himself. So much so a genuine giver is frowned upon and thought of as even having a secret motive!

We have become less and less sensitized to the fact that "the more we give, we receive." That's what the Bible says. And yes, I believe it.

That is not the reason as to why we give though ...and it is summed up in the commandments of Jesus...to love your neighbor as yourself. To love your colleague as yourself. Whoa.....stop right there........think about it. If you REALLY love someone, you want to GIVE to him or her. Not take. So think.

This may be your take on life..........I gotta look good mon. I make this much, I compete, I have all this, I do all this, I give to charity.....what do you mean....I only look out for myself??.........

Well, this is just a "search me, O God and know my heart" post today.

What is your motive in life...........why do you do what you do?

To survive...yes. God wants you to more than survive. So search your heart and know if there is any wicked way in you...and turn from it. It can be life-changing.

God has a purpose in your work. He does. And it most always involves a whole lot of other people.

Which will end up blessing you....if only you open your eyes.

And ........you can't monetize your soul.

Slave yet successful

No. No. I am not saying that you have to be a slave to be successful. I am not saying you have to go through slavery to become a really successful person in the world.

In Genesis 39: vs. 2, it says Joseph was successful and prosperous...( though a slave) and in the few verses after that how he found favor with God.

You see, in today's world, being a slave or serving others at the cost of oneself is considered a no- no. First look after yourself and your work and then think about your neighbor.

Jesus said the greatest commandment is to love you neighbor as yourself. It IS the toughest one and yet if that is obeyed....all other commandments fall in line.

That is why the word of God is absolutely wonderful. Coz even Joseph was a slave --- equal to probably the lowest pay offering job at a company -- YET he was successful and prosperous.

When God's hand is upon you....things happen. Not because we are good but because He wants to favor you.

We are not to look down at colleagues or neighbors who earn less or have a status less than ourselves and also we are told not to treat people above us with special attention...and yet this is what we do. It is being interwoven into the market place .....certain behaviour which is contrary to the Word of God.

Sometimes you feel like you are the only one who wants to obey God and do good...left out....and cut off from the rest...almost like a slave. God's standards for success are really way better than the world's definition of success. It is simply to obey Him. Just like Joseph. Obey Him and live for and like Him and you will be successful.

Be still

"Be still, all flesh, before the Lord, for He is aroused and risen from His Holy habitation." Zechariah 2:13

Whoa...in this world of busyness, work, work, work...responsibilities....trying to catch up...making it......reaching your goal........God says "Be still..."

The trouble is , we say our prayers, finish our meditation, but still do not include GOD in our daily lives. We finish with all of our view of God and His requisites, if I may put it that way....on Sunday, or every morning or night.....and then shut the Bible, shut our minds to Him and continue with the rest of our lives. Well.....we may sometimes meditate on His word during our day....and then it's how WE live our LIFE. TRYING to please Him....or so we think.

Which is awesome. Please don't think I am slamming you for doing what you believe is right. As a Christian.

But you know, sometimes God wants us to rest in HIS arms. Yesterday was Fathers' day.

Kids trust in, lean on their fathers....and don't even TRY to please him. They know their father loves them. They just have to run into his arms.

The verse above says, be still...all....FLESH. MY friend, be still....for you are LOVED.

Wherever you may be today....if you feel insecure at work.....know that you have a FATHER who can enter your workspace.

Include HIM in your work. Be still for a minute now. Allow Him to enter your habitation. For He has risen.

Allow Him to LIVE in you....which means you need to be still. Not all worked up or worried, or insecure, or troubled, or anxious, or needy......you HAVE someone. Not only when you are alone at home.....but even while you are out there....HE is with you.

Even if you have done something wrong. We all do. He still loves you.

Have a happy Fathers' Day.....and allow the heavenly father to enter your soul. The Bible says that knowledge puffeth up. When Eve saw that the fruit was desirable for gaining wisdom, desirable in the sense , she would become wise...know more....become greater....and better.....she disobeyed what God had told them.

Sometimes, at work, the desire to be the "all-knowing", or the wise one, or just better --- oh! it happens to everyone....is overwhelming. In this fast-moving world , you need to update yourself, you must be the one who knows the latest and the newest in everything...which is good.

For selfish reasons, not good. But to put to use for others without violating God's grace, it's good.

You see, we have come far away from the true sense of love, grace and wisdom.

Today's world is all about being the greatest in the eyes of man. At work, are we tempted to show that we know it all --- even when it causes us to lie, cheat, disobey God and evidently hurt or offend another...?

This is a time to examine ourselves about our desire to gain wisdom and knowledge. To outshine others? If that is your motive, it is a sad plight indeed. You are already unique. And your worth is great my friend. Divert your quest for the God-kind of wisdom which is made perfect in love.

Which means, get promoted, be the wise one, be the best and the greatest.....without manipulation, lying, cheating, putting down another.....etc etc. How? you say, in this world ...can anyone come up without doing all of that....ha! that's where God steps in my friend.

Stay pure and humble. Seek wisdom and knowledge. And He will lift you up.
The key -- do not seek the pride of life......but seek the source of all life -- God.

Unbelief

Sometimes, we know God has a purpose and plan for us and we trust that it will come to pass but deep down , we look at all that has happened during the past few years ...which look the opposite and we allow a little unbelief settle in.

We invite the thoughts that say, you won't be able to make it big....look at him....he has worked hard , he has climbed the right ladder, he knows how to talk.....etc etc and so he can do it, but my situation with no money, not much education, not enough recommendation...etc etc ...it just won't work. I should have done that earlier. So check your heart today. Are you afraid to dream....because you think this is all you've got. Stop and look at the Creator of the universe. He is backing you with all of heaven.

Arise and get going. You don't need what someone else has. You have what you need. Just believe that with God all things are possible. Yes, with God ALL things are possible. Let God live in your heart. But for those who find it tough...don't worry. First step, is to pray and make sure you are in the right place.

Next, is to stay humble. "Showing that you know everything...just puts people off".... Know that there is a lot more about the firm, or company that you need to learn.

Humble doesn't mean no confidence. Having confidence at work is vital to your work. So this is not about pretending to be humble and modest. The real thing.
The Bible says not to think too highly of oneself and to esteem others better than ourself.

Find your niche. Learn to practice your strengths and handle your weaknesses. What had been your strength in your previous job may be a weakness here. May be a weakness. Not always. So learn to play to your strength. If your weakness peeks out, ask God to give you the grace to handle it. God CAN turn your weakness into strength. He will.

Respect your new authority. Not act like you do. Seriously, respect them. Their weakness may be evident to you but stop shooting them down . Instead, encourage and build them up. Same for your colleagues.

Try not to be intimidated and afraid. You are placed at that position for a purpose. Also, this job is not just about you. So do not take everything personal.

You know, all that is above is in the Bible.

All the very best at what you do!!!

Who is my God?

Many people work for a purpose. Today, let us examine our hearts. Why do I work.... to survive, to prove something, to make money, to fulfill our desire, to feel content and satisfied..... or just to live...

Who is my God? Is it money, self-worth, acceptance, my family, my home, my car, my status, my ............. -- what drives me to do what I do?

If you are dissatisfied at work , question your reason for the same. Take time to reflect on who you are and why you were created. Follow your dreams, they say. But, you may think, how can I ever afford to follow my dream. It is too risky, costs me my time, effort, family, money......I would just have to sacrifice everything. Those who risk it, make it.

God has a purpose for us -- in this world. Sometimes we have to risk everything to fulfill it. just like He did. He risked His life ....and fulfilled His desire. To do the will of His Father.

Who is my god today? Truly, is Jesus the Lord of my work life?
Or is it pleasing my boss, satisfying my colleagues, or just being a somebody.

If you are at peace with your work, your life and your heart is at rest and you know that you are where God has placed you to be.....I applaud you. For it is with tremendous care and deception, the enemy tries to hide, steal and destroy our purpose. Layer upon layer of lies, untruth and false satisfaction , mostly external make your heart restless and troubled. But Jesus wants to give us peace. No matter where we are today, just stop and reflect. Pray and ask Him to clear the muddy waters for you so you can sail into a clear horizon, knowing your purpose.

"Whatever you do, do it heartily, as unto the Lord and not unto men.." .. the Bible.

Free....truly free!

Ah.....I know this title inspires us to dream of a beautiful beach or an open expanse where we are just soaring or flying or moving with no sense of worry, weight, but just peace.

It is really not somewhere out there. We can be free at work, at home, free throughout life. We can be free NOW.

Ok...just stay with me for a moment. Now I understand how when you find a pearl you really want to share it. ...so come let's look at this pearl I found.

The new covenant really is between God and Jesus....who took our place. Which means the covenant is between God and His Son......will either of them EVER break the covenant?? Will Jesus ever wake up in the morning with a thought of sin....no , never. So why fear if we don't measure up....

Why is every human under the consant fear of ' not measuring up'....or not being good enough... There is a constant striving ....a constant wanting to be better. That is good --- but is it driven by fear of failure and acceptance or fulfillment.

You know, many people just do something to be better than another. This church is good only if they have a church building, that family is blessed only if they have an own home etc etc. So who set these standards up?

He or she is only good at work if he or she does ........ this.

So do we let what we do or what we have define us? Stop struggling to get it right.

Jesus has done it so that you can be who you are. In Jesus, we hide. And we are fine....good....righteous.....just as we are. That is freedom. To be who we are...in Jesus.

He accepts you just as you are. You don't have to be a slim, long-legged beauty or a man who has the right friends to make it. Just accept who you are and live life knowing that Jesus accepts you just the same.

Hide in Jesus. Live in Jesus. He died so you can be free. Free from shame. Free from fear. Free from lies.

This taste of freedom makes us love HIM more and obey Him all the more.

Because He never condemns. If we fall, He lifts us up. Which makes us never want to fall.

(courtesy : Shame off you , by Alan Wright.)

Belief and change

It took a while for me to think this through because sometimes we think we know everything. Believe me ...we don't.

The topic to meditate was "belief". I went to one of the verses in the Bible I knew that had the word 'believe' and you wouldn't believe what I found.

It was Romans 10:9 ( John 3:16 has the word believe too but somehow I didn't get it at once! )

This is what it says:
"Because if you acknowledge and confess with your lips that Jesus is Lord and in your heart believe (adhere to, trust in, and rely on the truth) that God raised Him from the dead, you will be saved"

Ok..so we believe in Jesus...that's not very profound....some may think.

Let's go on..
10For with the heart a person believes (adheres to, trusts in, and relies on Christ) and so is justified (declared righteous, acceptable to God), and with the mouth he confesses (declares openly and speaks out freely his faith) and confirms [his] salvation.

For with the heart he believes. We believe with our heart. We know in our mind but always believe in or with our heart.

Jeremiah 17:9 says "The heart is deceitful above all things, and it is exceedingly perverse and corrupt and severely, mortally sick! Who can know it [perceive, understand, be acquainted with his own heart and mind]?

If I believe with my heart, and if my own heart is deceitful.....where do I stand?

Why do people change? There is our answer. Because what they believe changes and their heart deceives them....I know I make it sound like we are all terrible but just bear with me.

John 2:24 "But Jesus [for His part] did not trust Himself to them, because He knew all [men];
25And He did not need anyone to bear witness concerning man [needed no evidence from anyone about men], for He Himself knew what was in human nature. [He could read men's hearts.] "

Do we trust our selves more with people than we do with God. Do we seek approval from men ....or wonder why he or she changed.

Oh but people change for the better --- who knows what is better or worse these days?? What is worse years ago has become better today.....do you see where I am getting at?

So what is it that never changes and what is most reliable? Jesus and HIS WORD. Not my opinion or what's in this blog. But HIS WORD. Heaven and earth may pass away but God's Word does not.

The Bible has always been the same and yet it speaks to everyone of every age during every season throughout the years. Because Jesus never changes.

And if and when we stand on HIM and HE becomes our security, our hearts cannot deceive us ..because we trust in Him. And believe HIM more than even our hearts.

Work within us...

Ephesians 3: 20
Now to Him Who, by (in consequence of) the [action of His] power that is at work within us, is able to [carry out His purpose and] do superabundantly, far over and above all that we [dare] ask or think [infinitely beyond our highest prayers, desires, thoughts, hopes, or dreams]--

Something is AT WORK within us --- Him --- through HIS POWER -- is at work within us....for what purpose you may wonder.

Read the rest --- to do more than WE can do.

Yes -- the purpose is for us to be that "super-hero" -- to be MORE than what we actually are. What drives movies like Superman? Oooh... there is a hero in all of us....NO that is not what I am getting at. Please put aside all previous thoughts about this idea and just read on.

There is ANOTHER POWER at work within us through JESUS. HIM and HIS power. That can perform much better than we do at work.

When people appreciate you, you may think --- but that is all just normal and I just happened to do it. Yes. But you were led by God to do it.

Our God wants us to be a super hero at work -- to excel at work. But it happens when we acknowledge Him in us and His guidance.

Also, if you have dreams that look too big or a vision that would work only a certain way, stop and allow HIS power to work within you and He will perform that which is bigger and greater than what you have even imagined.

That is why He is God and He has created us. So we can say " Now unto HIM"...

Christmas -- where are you?

I recently heard this and was so excited I had to write about it. It is wonderful to know that Jesus came into this world so that we can live an abundant life... huh!...you may think. I already know this stuff. I slog at work and through this life full of responsiblities and it is real hard -- you wonder. Is this really for me?

Well, look at Hebrews Chapter 10 verse 19, it talks about us entering the Most Holy Place by a new and living way through the curtain who is Jesus Christ our Lord. His body was torn so that we can go through Him into the Holy of Holies.

In the days of old, only one High priest was allowed to enter the Holy of Holies and if he was there even one second late he would drop dead. It was a life or death matter and rigid obedience to laws was required. So Jesus had to come to set us free. Free to be able to enter where He was.... to commune with Him.... which is what we were created for.... and which gives us most pleasure. If you haven't noticed already, you are most happy and joyful when your heart is at reat and right with Jesus and you are in His presence. Jesus took our place so we can be Sons of God. So we can be like Him -- entering into the Holy of Holies.

This curtain was torn so that when I wake up I am in the Most Holy Place. When I work I am in the Most Holy Place. With Jesus. Which is why He came.

So we can LIVE with Him.

What joy! What freedom! So don' t be bound by work -- or the rigours of work or the burdens of the holiday season--- enjoy His presence in the Most Holy Place.

Wherever you are.

Merry Christmas!

Does God get the glory?

Of course He does. Pat . That's the answer.

John the Baptist was the man who prepared the way for Jesus. He said that One was coming after him whose sandals he was unworthy to untie. It was the One whom he baptized and the heavens opened and a voice said, This is My Beloved Son in whom I am well pleased.

Later on in his life, this same John sent his disciples to ask if Jesus was truly the Messiah. He was in prison during this time. Imagine his confusion and despair to have changed so much where he now asks if Jesus is the True Messiah. The One he came to show to the world -- is the same one whom he is now in doubt of.

Doesn't this remind us of our own weakness? When in despair, at work or otherwise -- we doubt our own Saviour. We doubt the One who gives us everything we need.

But God knows our hearts. And He recieves glory in our weaknes and time of trial. In our pain, when we turn to Him and confess that we doubt or are weak, He desires to help us.

Our God is glorified when He can lift us up from our despair. He is pleased when we turn to Him in our weakness.

Turn to Him. No matter what. Work or otherwise. He receives the glory.

Loving your BOSS

Now also we beseech you, brethren, get to know those who labor among you [recognize them for what they are, acknowledge and appreciate and respect them all]--your leaders who are over you in the Lord and those who warn {and} kindly reprove {and} exhort you.

And hold them in very high and most affectionate esteem in [intelligent and sympathetic] appreciation of their work. Be at peace among yourselves.

See that none of you repays another with evil for evil, but always aim to show kindness {and} seek to do good to one another and to everybody.

See the part that is highlighted?? Yep. It says acknowledge and appreciate and respect your "BOSS" !!! In today's world, that is kind of out of the question.

Especially, since it is a "cutthroat" and "selfish" marketplace that we work in. Yep, your boss drags you down, doesn't encourage you, doesn't appreciate you, keeps provoking you , and is ugly and mean to you. In a nice enough way. It stings. And if you are a woman you tear up.

What does the Bible say? It says to appreciate those who warn you. Wow. According to Jesus, we are to turn the other cheek. You may laugh. The world WILL laugh. But Jesus will appreciate you. For you are standing up to Him. You are being the LIGHT when you love those who persecute you.
When you love those who demean you and strip you and make you look like a worm. ]

To LOVE takes courage. So don't lose heart. And take heart. For out of it flow the issues of life.
Let your love flow--- and see how JESUS turns the situation around.
When the tide flows against you, do the very thing JESUS says to do which will go against every common sense and your own will --- but YOU will WIN. BECAUSE HE ALREADY HAS WON.

Love your bosses.

Drained or energised

In these times of recession, it is easy to lose focus and start wearing out quickly.

We can blame many factors in the cause for us being " tired" and "weary" and "busy"....or other words that we use to hide behind.

Sometimes it truly is a mask we wear, that we are weary ...and then fail to rise to what we need to do. It can become a deception which we allow ourselves to believe as being true. All the talk around us is of how much work there is, and how much we need to climb and attain social status and how wonderful life would be if only I had this, this and that. I don't blame you.

We really try. It is called "striving."

We go to work, and give of ourselves and end up completely squeezed out ...and tired.

Let's look at Jesus..

When he was by the well, where a Samaritan woman came to draw water...Jesus was tired. He had just finished a long period of ministry....He first asked for a drink. Then he took the conversation to different levels...until He ministered unto her and she was blessed.

Now when we get tired and weary, we are drained out of energy and need something to prop us up. We snap and crib at everyone around us and expect everyone to understand...

Jesus ministered even when He was tired...it is possible , my friend at the end of a hard long day to be kind, loving , patient and minister to a friend...even though it feels like we need some comfort.

It is possible to draw on the love and strength of Jesus, even at work , as we walk in the Spirit to love on someone else and give of ourselves and draw from the depth of God's Word within us.

For that to happen, we need to be filled with the love of God and His WORD. He talks with us through His Word and His Word gives us joy and hope as we dwell on the sure promises He will fulfill in our lives.

Be energised today knowing you are created for a purpose and you don't need to hide behind weariness, but you are created to refresh everyone around you even yourself.

Be the light in your workplace.. and an inspiration.

In a mess

Well, life has been a kind of mess lately. To a person who is organised and loves to be on top of stuff, it is ultimate chaos when things are out of order.

Which made me think, who defines order and chaos in our lives? In the same situation, another individual would probably think life is great and just keep living it up!

So, who defines our state in our lives? You got it...it's me. It's us. We define our own lives according to the way WE see it.

At work, we come across different people with different levels of perfection, tolerance, joy, anxiety, peace, arrogance and what-not. All of these put together make up the personality.

Understanding myelf is important. You know, God says in His Word that we should love the LORD with all our heart, mind and soul and love our neighbor as ourself. So I need to have a healthy dose of "understanding" myself. Which is the hard part. We wish to be someone else and we end up being something else and totally think we are great when we can be all messed up. That's mostly when we run to God. And He makes it right. Just like Him to just embrace us and make everything alright. His love for us knows no bounds.

When we can understand ourselves, we can understand others and give of ourselves to them.

I have noticed that when I love God, spend time with Him and HIS peace enters my innermost being, there is a sense of peace that dwells even when my world is spinning. When I forget Him and His peace, everything is a mess. My soul is anxious, not at rest.

When I am at peace, I can give of it to others. Which is why we are the light of the world.

At work, allow God to give you the grace you need to have peace. Even in a mess.

Life and work

Is work your life? Or life your work? Slow down ...and check this out.

Let's see what Jesus says about work and how that relates to our LIFE.

John 6:27-35

Stop toiling {and} doing {and} producing for the food that perishes {and} decomposes [in the using], but strive {and} work {and} produce rather for the [lasting] food which endures [continually] unto life eternal; the Son of Man will give (furnish) you that, for God the Father has authorized {and} certified Him {and} put His seal of endorsement upon Him.

They then said, What are we to do, that we may [habitually] be working the works of God? [What are we to do to carry out what God requires?]

Jesus replied, This is the work (service) that God asks of you: that you believe in the One Whom He has sent [that you cleave to, trust, rely on, and have faith in His Messenger].

Therefore they said to Him, What sign (miracle, wonderwork) will You perform then, so that we may see it and believe {and} rely on {and} adhere to You? What [supernatural] work have You [to show what You can do]?

Our forefathers ate the manna in the wilderness; as the Scripture says, He gave them bread out of heaven to eat.

Jesus then said to them, I assure you, most solemnly I tell you, Moses did not give you the Bread from heaven [what Moses gave you was not the Bread from heaven], but it is My Father Who gives you the true heavenly Bread.

For the Bread of God is He Who comes down out of heaven and gives LIFE to the world.

Then they said to Him, Lord, give us this bread always (all the time)!

Jesus replied, I am the Bread of Life. He who comes to Me will never be hungry, and he who believes in {and} cleaves to {and} trusts in {and} relies on Me will never thirst any more (at any time).

We get caught up in the things of this world -- getting a good home, a good vehicle, comforts in life and pleasures that identify us in today's age and makes us people of "status".

What or who are we working for? In most third world countries it's survival. For some it's for a "better" life. Life? What life?

Isn't there something which people look for and are still groaning within unable to find that "something" that completes them? Jesus is that life that EVERYONE is looking for. HE can fill that thirst that you are looking for. We look in all the wrong places -- at our work, for example . And it cannot satisfy us nor define us.

Let's allow Jesus in. To be filled with LIFE and have a purpose. And then work....without being hungry or thirsty.

"Raised up" for what purpose?

"For such a time as this..." Almost every Christian knows the story behind these words. Esther , a commoner was chosen Queen and there was a purpose behind it which was to save her people. Her uncle Mordecai who brought her up assured her during the difficult times that maybe she was made Queen .." for such a time as this."

Wherever you work, or are placed...you are there ...for such a time as this. This is your opportunity to shine like the King and Queen that you are. The Scripture says that even Pharaoh was raised to proclaim the power of God.

Rom 9:17 For the Scripture says to Pharaoh, I have raised you up for this very purpose of displaying My power in [dealing with] you, so that My name may be proclaimed the whole world over.

Whether it's me who is raised up or my enemy that is raised up, God is going to get the glory!!!

We might have lost a job, or may have been promoted....two sides of the coin. Dull or shiny, God has a purpose and will fulfill it.

When we are raised ...we need to be assured that God has raised us for a higher purpose.

Ultimately He is glorified. It takes a lot of trust. In the Creator of the universe. That shouldn't be so hard should it ? Ha! Your circumstances may look like you are at the bottom of the pile and no one notices you or your life or your resume. The God of the Universe notices. He is watching to see if you trust Him. And His purpose for you. And it WILL BRING GLORY TO HIS NAME.

You are raised up to bring glory to His name!

Wisdom of God....in these times III

When we can relate to Him and know HIM , His wisdom is evident in our lives.

We are God's treasure. When He lives in us, we reveal His wisdom at work, and He works for us.

So , in the end...all it takes is trusting Him completely.

So why can't I appropriate this truth in my life and just sail through life and all it's challenges with this wisdom that God gives me?

We see things with our eyes, we hear and listen with our ears......and use our five senses. We BELIEVE what we see, hear , taste, smell and touch. That's where our problem lies. When we can live beyond our senses, and "hear" what God has to say to us, we are one step ahead on God's wisdom trail...:-)

Now just come with me....

1 Cor 2:7 - 16

But rather what we are setting forth is a wisdom of God once hidden [from the human understanding] and now revealed to us by God--[that wisdom] which God devised {and} decreed before the ages for our glorification [to lift us into the glory of His presence].
None of the rulers of this age {or} world perceived {and} recognized {and} understood this, for if they had, they would never have crucified the Lord of glory.

But, on the contrary, as the Scripture says, What eye has not seen and ear has not heard and has not entered into the heart of man, [all that] God has prepared (made and keeps ready) for those who love Him [who hold Him in affectionate reverence, promptly obeying Him and gratefully recognizing the benefits He has bestowed].

Yet to us God has unveiled {and} revealed them by {and} through His Spirit, for the [Holy] Spirit searches diligently, exploring {and} examining everything, even sounding the profound and bottomless things of God [the divine counsels and things hidden and beyond man's scrutiny].

For what person perceives (knows and understands) what passes through a man's thoughts except the man's own spirit within him? Just so no one discerns (comes to know and comprehend) the thoughts of God except the Spirit of God.

And we are setting these truths forth in words not taught by human wisdom but taught by the [Holy] Spirit, combining {and} interpreting spiritual truths with spiritual language [to those who possess the Holy Spirit].

But the natural, nonspiritual man does not accept {or} welcome {or} admit into his heart the gifts {and} teachings {and} revelations of the Spirit of God, for they are folly (meaningless nonsense) to him; and he is incapable of knowing them [of progressively recognizing, understanding, and becoming better acquainted with them] because they are spiritually discerned {and} estimated {and} appreciated.

But the spiritual man tries all things [he examines, investigates, inquires into, questions, and discerns all things], yet is himself to be put on trial and judged by no one [he can read the meaning of everything, but no one can properly discern {or} appraise {or} get an insight into him].

For who has known {or} understood the mind (the counsels and purposes) of the Lord so as to guide {and} instruct Him {and} give Him knowledge? But we have the mind of Christ (the Messiah) {and} do hold the thoughts (feelings and purposes) of His heart.

Having the wisdom of God goes hand in hand with inviting and receiving the Holy Spirit into our lives. We make decisions based on the revelation to us by the Holy Spirit who reveals the mind of Christ ( Who is wisdom) to us.

Do you get it? No...do you REALLY get it?

It says " for the [Holy] Spirit searches diligently, exploring {and} examining everything, even sounding the profound and bottomless things of God [the divine counsels and things hidden and beyond man's scrutiny]."

Which means the HOLY SPIRIT knows everything. And He reveals to us the mind of Christ. And we receive divine wisdom.

Wow. It's beautiful. The way God has orchestrated this world and everything in and about it is awesome. When we realize that we on our own are truly blinded to the real wisdom of God, we can open our hearts to the Holy Spirit to lead and guide our decisions based on the wisdom of God.

Wisdom of God - in these times II

Okay...now let's go on to the New Testament...

You have got to read what this says..:

1 Cor 1:20 - 29

Where is the wise man (the philosopher)? Where is the scribe (the scholar)? Where is the investigator (the logician, the debater) of this present time {and} age? Has not God shown up the nonsense {and} the folly of this world's wisdom?

For when the world with all its earthly wisdom failed to perceive {and} recognize {and} know God by means of its own philosophy, God in His wisdom was pleased through the foolishness of preaching [salvation, procured by Christ and to be had through Him], to save those who believed (who clung to and trusted in and relied on Him).

For while Jews [demandingly] ask for signs {and} miracles and Greeks pursue philosophy {and} wisdom,

We preach Christ (the Messiah) crucified, [preaching which] to the Jews is a scandal {and} an offensive stumbling block [that springs a snare or trap], and to the Gentiles it is absurd {and} utterly unphilosophical nonsense.

But to those who are called, whether Jew or Greek (Gentile),

Christ [is] the Power of God and the Wisdom of God.

[This is] because the foolish thing [that has its source in] God is wiser than men, and the weak thing [that springs] from God is stronger than men.

For [simply] consider your own call, brethren; to put the strong to shame.

And God also selected (deliberately chose) what in the world is lowborn {and} insignificant and branded {and} treated with contempt, even the things that are nothing, that He might depose {and} bring to nothing the things that are,

So that no mortal man should [have pretense for glorying and] boast in the presence of God.

God has CHOSEN us to be at this place at this p articular time and season. Therefore, only HE and His wisdom will be sufficient for you to appropriate in this life.

At work, what someone else says which sounds real "sensible" and " logical.." is not really wisdom of God.

What the media says is "news" ...not wisdom.

When JESUS , who is the wisdom of God, has a relationship with you, He in His wisdom is revealed to you and you receive wisdom to deal with situations in your life. It is a total dependance and trusting in God. Which brings us back to "fear of the Lord".

When we can relate to Him and know HIM , His wisdom is evident in our lives.

It's really beautiful when you delve into God's word and find treasure hidden for us to give to the world.

We are God's treasure. When He lives in us, we reveal His wisdom at work, and He works for us.

So , in the end...all it takes is trusting Him completely. You don't need to break your head.

Wisdom of God ....in these times - I

I'm sorry I couldn't get on earlier to continue my post. Anyways, here we are talking about wisdom during these times.

First off, what is the wisdom...of God?

Job 12:13 But [only] with [God] are [perfect] wisdom and might; He [alone] has [true] counsel and understanding.

But where shall Wisdom be found? And where is the place of understanding?
Man knows not the price of it; neither is it found in the land of the living.
The deep says, [Wisdom] is not in me; and the sea says, It is not with me.
It cannot be gotten for gold, neither shall silver be weighed for the price of it.
Gold and glass cannot equal [Wisdom], nor can it be exchanged for jewels {or} vessels of fine gold.
No mention shall be made of coral or of crystal; for the possession of Wisdom is even above rubies {or} pearls.
From where then does Wisdom come? And where is the place of understanding?
Abaddon (the place of destruction) and Death say, We have [only] heard the report of it with our ears.
God understands the way [to Wisdom] and He knows the place of it [Wisdom is with God alone].

Job 28: 12 - 23 ( some verses not included- similar meaning)

But to man He said, Behold, the reverential {and} worshipful fear of the Lord--that is Wisdom; and to depart from evil is understanding. Job 28:28

Wow.

We cannot get wisdom from gold, the seas, nature, land, wealth, rubies and pearls or from the knowledge of anything from this world. WOW. So a knowledgable man is not really "wise" ...but a man who seeks after knowledge realises his inadequacy and turns to God. ( which is a different topic so we'll move on..)

The worshipful , reverential fear of the Lord is Wisdom.

So how do we get wisdom for these times?

Nowadays, we fear everyone and everything...except God. If I have no money I am full of fear, anxiety and worry. Why?

During this financial downturn, there is a constant underlying fear of lack. Of want. Of need.

The fear that Job talks about is reverential, not of worry...but of complete trust and "abandon". Where we know that God is my SOURCE for everything ( not just money) and I worship Him in awe of this knowledge and I am ready to obey Him.

When I come to that place, I am ready to receive His counsel and wisdom...the wisdom of God....because now I am ready to walk the path that He gives me...fully trusting Him. And walking in the wisdom of GOD.

Not on what 'I" think is right. But on His direction. Which calls for a relationship with God.

At work, is there talk among everyone that borders on fear, worry, anxiey, steps to save money at the cost of helping someone else...etc?

Where do we stand? Are we in sync with God?

The most beautiful aspect of all that I am saying right now is that it is "PERSONAL".

I cannot tell you how you need to be in relationship with God. It's your call.

Just like I cannot dictate the relationship between two close friends if I am not one of them and don't know them. I sure hope you understand this.

For this is the key to my further posts on acquiring the wisdom of God in our life and workplace.

If you are serious about this, take a minute and talk to God -- if you have no idea what I am talking about and would like to know more, ask a person who knows or write to me at bestchristianjobs@gmail.com.

Recession

I looked it up and found this -- "A recession is a decline in a country's gross domestic product (GDP) growth for two or more consecutive quarters of a year. A recession is also preceded by several quarters of slowing down. " Many have an idea what recession is but not many actually know what it is. So I googled it and here we are. courtesy : http://www.rediff.com/money/2008/feb/14spec.htm

What does it mean to a Christian worker? Let's look in the Bible...

There was a famine(worse than recession) in the land where Isaac lived. Read on below to know what happened.

Gen 26:2 - 6 "And the Lord appeared to him and said, Do not go down to Egypt; live in the land of which I will tell you.
Dwell temporarily in this land, and I will be with you and will favor you with blessings; for to you and to your descendants I will give all these lands, and I will perform the oath which I swore to Abraham your father.
And I will make your descendants to multiply as the stars of the heavens, and will give to your posterity all these lands (kingdoms); and by your Offspring shall all the nations of the earth be blessed, {or} by Him bless themselves,
For Abraham listened to {and} obeyed My voice and kept My charge, My commands, My statutes, and My laws.
So Isaac stayed in Gerar."

Isaac, just like his father Abraham....obeyed GOD and STAYED.

He continued to do just what God told him to do. You may have heard this many times. Many preachers or teachers may have said, during this recession...God is with you and will never let you down. Which is true. But maybe deep inside only you know the current situation and the state of your soul. And you have an unbelief that borders on rebelling against trusting in God.

God, the creator of the heavens and the earth. Now, DO we grasp the meaning of that. THE CREATOR. How can we not trust HIM? That's the key to Isaac's obedience. He knew that his father's God does what He says and he trusted Him. So Isaac continued to WORK.

Then Isaac sowed seed in that land and received in the same year a hundred times as much as he had planted, and the Lord favored him with blessings.
And the man became great and gained more and more until he became very wealthy {and} distinguished;
He owned flocks, herds, and a great supply of servants, and the Philistines envied him.

His work was the same. He sowed seed in "that" land ( land of famine) and managed his estate. He sowed seed during the famine!!! No one would do that !!! You sow and plant where it looks like it would grow right? He just did it. The difference was that God did what He promised him. HE MULTIPLIED HIS seed a HUNDRED times during that same year. Who says that cannot happen to us?

Only be sure that is what God wants you to do. How can I know? How will you know if your father wants you to do something....ASK him. And WAIT for an answer, a promise that is just for you. That's the hardest part. In this instant generation, we want to know everything NOW. We want control. But God asks us to trust His TIMING and His PROMISE.

And HE will bless.

Sometimes, it goes against the grain of what we want to do. Precisely. During these times as a Christian worker, we need to continue to stand on God's promise ( which is just for you, not someone else's) or get to know what He wants us to do and KEEP DOING WHAT HE HAS ASKED US TO DO.

God will take care of everything else. You don't need to know, or even break your head about it.

And Abimelech said to Isaac, Go away from us, for you are much mightier than we are.

The King asked Isaac to leave!

Isaac carried the blessing. Not his circumstances, and not his locality. But him.

Wherever you are, YOU carry the blessing of God ......so it's whats in you that's important , not your situation.

Follow me on my next post on "Wisdom of God ... in these times."

Self- confident fools

A [self-confident] fool has no delight in understanding but only in revealing his personal opinions {and} himself. Proverbs 18:2

Are we constantly talking about ourselves...our lives at work? Do we always talk about how good God has been to me ...and how wonderful MY life is....or the other extreme...how terrible this always happens to ME.... and I know why ....it's because ...I didn't pray this morning or I ........notice the attitute about "self".

Referring to ourselves and our experiences is a good thing...in order to build someone up. How far do we go?

What we see in the above proverb is ..." DELIGHT in understanding"......I am supposed to have joy in understanding my co-worker, or my friend.

Getting to know your colleague is essential to sharing the love of God in your workplace. And to get to know them, we need to adopt measures to understand them.

How?

Step 1. Listen. Listening to their needs that lie behind their expressions....listening to what they are truly saying ...through their being.

Step 2. Learn. Learn about him/her. Which means not asking a string of questions...but observing, and learning through love.

Step 3. Lower yourself. The Bible says to hold others in high esteem. When you do that and step into their shoes, you understand them better. Stop talking about yourself and thinking about how things affect you or who likes you...and lower yourself...and think of the other.

You will move closer to understanding the other person. And delight in doing it.

You will see a change when YOU become the change.

Are you considered a self-confident fool? Now you know why.

Saying is not enough!

"And if you are confident that you [yourself] are a guide to the blind, a light to those who are in darkness, and [that You are] a corrector of the foolish, a teacher of the childish, having in the Law the embodiment of knowledge and truth--

Well then, you who teach others, do you not teach yourself? While you teach against stealing, do you steal (take what does not really belong to you)?
You who say not to commit adultery, do you commit adultery [are you unchaste in action or in thought]? Ha, that's a good question.

More than teaching through saying and words....it's important to live and do what we believe.

That's what is "making disciples...". If you are looking to draw people to the love of Jesus, love them first.

Our words and deeds should be the same.....that's when we can be a true leader.

Think on this.

The most difficult thing...

Yeah. Wonder what that is. I can take anything in my stride. Today's generation knows how to talk. But when something tough actually happens..... they run or hide or halt mid-step or just fall.
Can you take an unjust accusation? Do you always PROVE that you are right? I do, most of the time...just read on...

I read in the Bible today, in I Peter Chapter 2 verse 18 - " servants must submit to your masters and show them complete respect, not only to those kind and considerate, but also to those who are harsh.".....OUCH.

Man, he is so rude to me..what did I do to him ...such an awful boss! We hear this all the time.

Allow me to continue...." GOD WILL BLESS YOU FOR THIS, if you endure the pain of undeserved suffering because YOU ARE CONSCIOUS OF HIS WILL. "

And... verse 21 - " It was to this that GOD CALLED YOU, for CHRIST Himself suffered for you, leaving you an example, so that you would follow in His steps."

What have been called to do ? ENDURE.

Endure what? The pain of undeserved suffering. No, I am not saying that you should bring suffering upon yourself. Please don't get me wrong. But if you do undergo something untoward that you feel you don't deserve, then don't worry, we are all called to endure. For Christ endured, for the joy that was set before HIM.

And in verse 15 - " for God wants you to silence the ignorant talk of foolish people by the good things you do."

You are called for a higher purpose. One that GOD Himself guides you in.

Unjust treatment at work? Repay it with good , from the heart, for this is God's will. Not to repay by unleashing it on the media or on your blog, but to ENDURE.

verse 23 - "When He was insulted, He did not answer back with an insult; when He suffered He did not threaten, but PLACED HIS HOPES in GOD, the Righteous Judge."

Chapter 3 verse 8: "To conclude, you must all have the same attitude and the same feelings; love one another as brothers, and be kind and humble with one one another.

Do not pay back evil for evil or cursing with cursing; instead pay back with a blessing, because a blessing is what God promised you when He called you. And they went.
He went out again about the sixth hour (noon), and the ninth hour (three o'clock) he did the same.
And about the eleventh hour (five o'clock) he went out and found still others standing around, and said to them, Why do you stand here idle all day?
They answered him, Because nobody has hired us. He told them, You go out into the vineyard also {and you will get whatever is just and fair.}
When evening came, the owner of the vineyard said to his manager, Call the workmen and pay them their wages, beginning with the last and ending with the first.
And those who had been hired at the eleventh hour (five o'clock) came and received a denarius each.
Now when the first came, they supposed they would get more, but each of them also received a denarius.
And when they received it, they grumbled at the owner of the estate,
Saying, These [men] who came last worked no more than an hour, and yet you have made them rank with us who have borne the burden and the scorching heat of the day.
But he answered one of them, Friend, I am doing you no injustice. Did you not agree with me for a denarius?
Take what belongs to you and go. I choose to give to this man hired last the same as I give to you.
Am I not permitted to do what I choose with what is mine? [Or do you begrudge my being generous?] Is your eye evil because I am good?

Beautiful story that kind of humbles us. These days, is there anybody out there who doesn't begrudge someone else?

We are taught to be jealous sometimes. Take for example, Advertisement : " A's outfit looks better than B's ..oh it's time you get your outfits from .......! We make you look better than anyone else!" Yeah...check everybody out and they all think alike.

The world screams at us .....his party was great. Mine is going to be better THAN HIS.

In the above story, the boss goes out and hires people who agree for a certain amount and then invites people and ends up paying everyone the same. If there were no extra people invited the ones who agreed would have gone happy. When they began to compare, there lies the problem.

Allow the boss to be boss. Allow God to be God. He will give you only the best. Stop comparing your work and your life with your colleagues/ friends/ family and end up depressed.

We are called to be thankful. With what we do and with who we are.

Is our eye evil because our God is good? What a wonderful thought-provoking question.
